The first rail hung in a single room off Trivandrum Road, under a ceiling fan that never quite reached the far corner. The cottons came from a mill two streets over. The finishing — the hems, the hooks, the pressing — was done by hand, at a table, in the long slow afternoons between the lunch rush and the evening one.
Nearly ten years on, that is still how a Queen of House dress is made. The room is bigger. The rail is longer. But the cotton is still local, the hemming is still done by someone whose name we know, and every dress is still pressed and folded into tissue before it leaves.
